Make Them Hear You
A Recital of Songs from the African American Tradition
Thsombe Selby, Tenor
Ishamel Wallace, Pianist
Tshombe Selby, young operatic tenor, brings to his singing all the nuance and devotion of the African American experience. Steeped in the culture of Roanoke Island in the Outerbanks of North Carolina, in Manteo, his relationship with these songs began at Haven Creek Missionary Baptist Church as a child. He gives voice to these songs as a tribute to this authentic American music and the rich heritage from which it comes.
Ishamel Wallace is a well respected collaborative pianist, composer, teacher and vocal coach. A gradutate of Curtis Institute of Music and the Mannes College of Music, he resides in New York where he is co-founder and pianist for the Orfeo Duo.
